Trails and trekking itineraries

Reggio Emilia is the greenest city in Italy! Discover it in more than 160 kms of trails across all the Reggio Emilia Municipality and beyond: Reggio Città dei Sentieri is the comprehensive project that allows you to discover the wild soul and every corner of the city.
Four major long trekking trails cross all the Reggio Emilia province: Sentiero Spallanzani (134 km) traces back every place where Lazzaro Spallanzani (the notable Scandiano-born scientist of 1700), crossing all the climatic, biological and geographical areas of our territory; Cammino di San Pellegrino, following ancient roads and local customs, reviving a millenary tradition that brings pilgrims from Reggio Emilia to San Pellegrino in Alpe Sanctuary; Sentiero dei Ducati (160 km), crossing the ancient borders of the pre-unitary Italy from Reggio Emilia to the Ligurian Sea; and Via Matildica del Volto Santo (~285 km), starting in Mantua and arriving in Lucca, dividing the province north to south, unveiling all the places belonged to the Great Countess Mathilda of Tuscany.
All the trails (and much more!) are available at the Komoot account of Reggio Emilia Welcome.
