In Sabbioni, near Guastalla, alongside a branch of the Cavo Fiuma canal, lies Parco dell'Olmo - a place where nature, heritage, and rural culture come together in an intimate and charming landscape.
The park was established over thirty years ago through the vision of Giuseppe Cocconi, who transformed a land reclamation area into a haven dedicated to nature, culture, and local history.
From its inception, the Ecopark has maintained a strong environmental and educational focus, developed in part through collaboration with the Guastalla Ambiente association, with the goal of fostering environmental awareness and respect, particularly among younger generations.
Today, this distinctive mission continues under the care of Gessica Cocconi and Monica Eleuteri.
Divided into various habitats, the park blends lush vegetation with brick arches, courtyards, and traditional rural structures that mirror the architecture and atmosphere of ancient farmhouses in the Reggio Emilia plain.
Nature is equally vibrant through the presence of numerous birds, fish, and farmyard animals, recreating the authentic spirit of historic country farmyards.
Strolling amongst the greenery and traditional structures, visitors rediscover a landscape where natural elements, creativity, and agricultural memory coexist in harmony.
Parco dell'Olmo is designed for those seeking to slow down, observe, and immerse themselves in an authentic setting away from the pace of urban life.
A visit encourages one to rediscover the value of quietude and to observe nature with care and respect.
Among the most enchanting spots within the park are locations with evocative names, such as the Sorgente dell’Amore (Spring of Love) and the Ponte dei Silenzi (Bridge of Silence).
The Ecopark is a privately owned nature restoration area dedicated to environmental, cultural, and educational purposes.
To preserve its delicate ecological balance, access is regulated, with limited capacity and advance booking required.
Visitors are invited to become symbolic "custodians of nature", helping through their thoughtful conduct to protect a precious small ecosystem and a heritage of rural memory well worth preserving.
