The Association works to protect, restore and educate people to respect the environment. It belongs to the Provincial Co-ordination of Civil Defence Volunteers.

The Association promotes, takes part and contributes to specific activities in order to make people aware of issues regarding the protection of natural resources and the environment.
It collaborates directly with public institutions dealing with water, air and soil pollution, the excavation of lithoid materials, water cleaning and nature protection.
It collaborates in organizing courses for candidates wishing to become Voluntary Environment Warden.

The Wardens' tasks, who work unpaid, are:
- ascertainment of administrative violations as far as the environment is concerned;
- notification of environmental violations
- civil defence
- environmental education
It promotes seminars, conferences and meetings dealing with the environment.

In the event of disasters, it collaborates with the "Flying squad", within the sphere of Civil Defence voluntary activities.

To join the Association, a written application is required in order to become a "GEV candidate".
