We still talk about me. Zavattini between word and image

The exhibition draws on the rich collection of paintings by Cesare Zavattini (1902-1989) of the Museums Palace and the documentary heritage of the Cesare Zavattini Archive conserved in the Panizzi Library.

April 1, 2023 - January 7, 2024

The event takes place in the Museums Palace, via Spallanzani 1.

The cultural experience of Cesare Zavattini (1902-1989) is characterized by the versatility of interests and the use of different means of expression, constantly maintaining a marked "autobiographical" dimension in the creative process. The exhibition itinerary intends to illustrate the substantial organicity and coherence of Zavattini's work in the commitment to a reflection on one's self-representation and its transfiguration in the fields of writing and painting.

The exhibition presents a selection of materials focusing on the propensity for self-reflection in Zavattini's cultural and artistic experience. There is a strong contamination between forms of writing and painting, as well as the transmedia dimension of Zavattini's artistic creativity, highlighting the strong link between painting and literature that has characterized the activity of the Luzzara-born author since the beginning of the thirties and destined to constantly accompany him during his artistic tour.
