Campegine
Campegine combines history, culture and nature: walks through historic villages, rural farmyards and nature reserves, allowing you to experience the Bassa (Lowlands) region in all seasons.
Campegine is located in the central Po Valley, about 15 km from Reggio Emilia, in an area made fertile by natural springs.
Campegine combines history, remembrance and natural beauty.
An independent municipality since 1860, it has witnessed important moments in Italian history: from the 1869 uprisings against the milling tax to the Resistance against Nazi-Fascism.
Here, at the Campegine Cemetery, lies the grave of the seven Cervi brothers, shot in 1943, alongside their parents Alcide and Genoeffa Cocconi - a place that bears witness to courage and sacrifice.
The village is a delight all year: in spring and summer, the flowers and parks offer unforgettable colours and scents, while autumn brings a sense of warmth with its festivals and local produce.
Winter, on the other hand, is the perfect time to enjoy the tranquillity of the historic centres and savour the local cuisine in complete relaxation.
