Roncolo Park is a natural and recreational hillside area owned by the Province of Reggio Emilia, located 16 km from Reggio Emilia, just before Quattro Castella.
Its proximity to the city, gentle slopes, alternating woodlands and frequently mown open meadows, along with its visitor facilities, make the park easily accessible and attract large crowds during the warm season. It is also a popular destination for school field trips. Open to the public every day, Roncolo is the ideal spot for leisure, outdoor activities, and sports.
It is a favorite location for anyone wishing to organize outdoor group activities, both sports-related and recreational. For several years, local associations have regularly hosted orienteering competitions and events featuring ethnic and folk dances here.
The park's 44 hectares are partially covered by mixed woodland dominated by hop-hornbeam and downy oak, along with manna ash, hazel, wild cherry, black poplar, and Scots pine, offering a remarkably varied landscape.
Numerous recently expanded trails wind through the park, perfect for walking and trekking. An equipped fitness trail runs along these paths, and the park features dedicated picnic areas with tables and benches. A bar-restaurant with a pleasant outdoor seating area provides convenient refreshments from April through September, with extended evening hours during the summer.
