In Poviglio, the "Santa Rosa" Terramara Museum invites you on a fascinating journey into the prehistory of the Po Valley, from the daily life of ancient Bronze Age communities to the remains of a Roman villa.
Opened in 1996 for the 13th International Congress of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences, the museum houses nearly 500 artifacts, entrusted to it by the Superintendence of Archaeological Heritage of Emilia-Romagna.
The exhibition features ceramics, jewelry, bone and bronze tools, glass paste jewelry, and many other objects that reveal the ingenuity and daily habits of the first inhabitants of the Enza Valley.
The Santa Rosa Terramara, with two superimposed settlements dating back to around 1500 BC, demonstrates the evolution of terramare communities, both protected by imposing moats and defensive embankments.
Visiting the museum means immersing yourself in the region's millennia-old history, discovering life in ancient Po Valley villages, and appreciating the extraordinary cultural continuity linking past and present.
