Palazzo Cattini
Known in ancient times as the Banca della Ragione (Court of Reason) or Banca della Comunità (Community Bench), Palazzo Cattini was the venue where local justice was administered. Today, the building can only be viewed from the outside, yet it remains one of the most recognizable landmarks in the historic center.
The palace is topped by a large public clock built in 1783, set within a small bell tower. While the original mechanical movements are now preserved in the civic museum and have been replaced by electronic systems, the clock continues to symbolically mark the passing of time for the town.
At the base of the building sits the Monument to the Fallen, erected in 1923. This extraordinary work by sculptor Leonardo Bistolfi lends a powerful civic and commemorative significance to the site.
Beneath the palace portico, a 1671 fresco depicting the Passion of Christ and Saints is preserved, standing as a testament of significant artistic interest. Furthermore, the palace offers an evocative perspective view of the Corso porticoes, accentuating its scenic role within the urban landscape.
