Visits are available during office hours every morning from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm.
Visitors can view the grand staircase, the ground floor, and the 17th-18th century fresco of Saint Catherine of Alexandria.
The Municipal Palace of Scandiano has urban planning origins dating back to the 16th century, while the current structure is the result of a major building intervention completed in 1912.
The facade develops over two levels, punctuated by aligned windows that are entablatured on the ground floor and decorated with tympanums on the first floor.
The most characteristic elements are the central portal, the main balcony, and the tympanum framing along the roofline.
At the entrance, the elegant and monumental two-flight central staircase stands out.
The interiors offer extraordinary artistic testimonies: among the monochrome decorations, one can admire the coats of arms of Scandiano and Reggio Emilia, as well as those of the noble Boiardo and Da Fogliano families.
Also remarkable are two 16th-century frescoes depicting Saint Catherine of Alexandria, patron saint of the city, and six plaster busts by the sculptor Luigi Mainoni (1804-1853), which celebrate illustrious personalities from Scandiano such as Matteo Maria Boiardo, Cesare Magati, Antonio Vallisneri senior, and Lazzaro Spallanzani.
