Civic Palace
The Civic Palace, dating back to the 15th century, is today home to the Municipal Library.
The current structure is the result of the merging and adaptation of 15th-century houses, which are still recognizable inside through elegant small windows, a coffered ceiling, and original frescoes.
On the outside, the building is distinguished by its four-arched portico and its massive 16th-century tower, a symbol of the building's historical public function.
The central core preserves original 15th-century elements, such as plant decorations and woodcuts applied to the wooden tablets of the ceiling, which testify to the transformation of the former private dwelling into a space intended for offices and public meetings.
Over the centuries, the Palace underwent various modifications: between the 17th and 18th centuries, the facade was moved forward toward Via Emilia, adding rooms above the portico and raising the tower, making it visible and symbolic of the building's public role.
Once restored, the palace was inaugurated in 1988 as a library, keeping its historical charm and the traces of its medieval and Renaissance past intact.
