Santissima Annunziata Church

Built in 1513 at the behest of Prince Ercole d’Este, the Church of Santissima Annunziata stands in the Ca’ de Maestri district as a intimate and refined place of worship.

The single-nave building still retains its original form today, enhanced by three altars and an elegant, slender Baroque façade, punctuated by pilasters and crowned by a triangular pediment.
The slender, harmonious bell tower completes the architectural composition with a touch of verticality that evokes the late Renaissance style of the Po Valley.
The rectory, rebuilt in the late 19th century, helps to make this complex a little gem of simplicity and grace, nestled in the rural landscape of Reggio Emilia.

L’edificio, a navata unica, mantiene ancora oggi la sua forma originaria, arricchita da tre altari e da una facciata barocca elegante e slanciata, scandita da lesene e conclusa da un frontone triangolare.
Il campanile, sottile e armonioso, completa la composizione architettonica con un tocco di verticalità che richiama lo stile padano del tardo Rinascimento.
La canonica, ricostruita a fine Ottocento, contribuisce a rendere questo complesso un piccolo gioiello di semplicità e grazia, immerso nel paesaggio rurale reggiano.
