In the heart of the village, the Parish Church of Santa Maria Nascente and San Genesio preserves history, faith and even a touch of cinema.
The façade, completed at the end of the 19th century, is adorned with statues of Our Lady of the Rosary and Saint Genesio, who watch silently over the churchyard.

Inside, visitors can admire various works by the local painter Carlo Zatti and a precious organ dating from 1767, with five sections and 33 pipes, which is still in working order.
But what makes this church unique is its connection to the Don Camillo and Peppone saga: some of the films’ most famous scenes were shot right here, and the famous ‘Talking Crucifix’, sculpted by Bruno Avesani of Verona, can still be seen in the side chapel.
An interesting detail: the porch on the façade, added in 1955, was a gift from the Rizzoli production company, as a tribute to the popularity of the films that made Brescello an international icon.
