The Basilica della Ghiara is first and foremost a place of worship, meditation, and prayer; for this reason, we ask visitors to respect its silence and sanctity during their visit.

Admission is free, and the basilica’s lighting is set to standard mode.
For an even more atmospheric experience, you can request the special lighting for visitors at the sacristy for a minimum donation of € 5,00.

To enhance your visit, we recommend watching the introductory video on the Basilica della Ghiara (approximately 30 minutes long), which is an excellent way to learn more about the history, art, and spiritual significance of the sanctuary.

Group tours and pilgrimages

Groups, organizations, and pilgrimage groups can book guided or tailor-made tours by contacting the Comunità dei Servi di Maria at +39 0522 439707.

Dates and times are arranged at the time of booking.
During group tours, the Basilica is illuminated in its most spectacular lighting scheme to best highlight the frescoes and monumental spaces.
A minimum donation of € 1,00 is requested for each participating adult.

Thanks to the new free app and the QR codes located along the interior pillars of the Basilica, you can discover historical trivia and artistic details, and view the paintings in a whole new light.
You can illuminate the magnificent frescoed vaults, explore the masterpieces housed within, and let yourself be guided through the history of this extraordinary Marian shrine.

To mark the 400th anniversary of the Transfer of the Miraculous Image of the Beata Vergine della Ghiara, a new lighting system was installed with funding from IREN (one of Italy's largest multi-utility companies), designed to highlight the architectural and artistic beauty of the sanctuary.

The image of the Beata Vergine della Ghiara remains illuminated at all times, while the other light displays can be activated during liturgical celebrations or directly by visitors via a QR code.
