"Natus Scandiani, clarus ubique" is the epigraph in the native house where the scientist was born in 1729. His discoveries involve the following scientific fields: physiological laws of blood circulation, digestion, breathing and artificial reproduction; studies on molluscs, plants and volcanic phenomena. Many documents are kept in Reggio Emilia-based Panizzi Library, and the Reggio Emilia-based Civic Museum hosts his private collection.
