Historical notes

In the meantime, a different site for the theatre was chosen. Antonio Vasconi designed the building in occasion of the wedding of Ferdinando Carlo to Anna Isabella, daughter of the Duke of Guastalla. By the end of the 18th century the building was already in danger of collapse. Restoration begun only in 1813 and was entrusted to the architect Paglia. The building was inaugurated in 1814 in occasion of the Fair of Santa Caterina.
Today, Ruggeri Theatre has 400 seats and houses mainly prose performances.
