Located in the northern part of Reggio Emilia, Parco Il Tasso is a compact green space rich in biodiversity, where nature, culture, and community life come together.

At its heart stands the historic Villa Cougnet, accessed via the tree-lined entrance on Via Adua. Hosting cultural events and public meetings, the villa gives the park a distinct character, tying the green space directly to the city’s history and cultural scene.
The park is crossed by a shared pedestrian and cycle path and is equipped for a variety of outdoor activities: it features children's play areas, a dedicated reading spot, and an open-air area for summer events.

The Santa Croce Public Library (Biblioteca comunale di Santa Croce) is located right within the park grounds, while the Centro Sportivo Italiano (CSI) sports facilities lie just next door.

A compact haven of biodiversity

Despite its modest size, Parco Il Tasso boasts a remarkable variety of plant species.
The landscape is defined by standalone specimen trees and avenues of limes, London planes, white poplars, white willows, pedunculate oaks, Norway maples, and black locusts, flanked by mixed hedges of hawthorn, hornbeam, and field maple.
Rose clusters and expansive lawns complete the scenery.

Particularly noteworthy is a young hawthorn hedge running along the sports facility boundary and a flowerbed housing a impressive yew tree (tasso) - standing around seven metres tall - from which the park takes its name. Two prominent white poplars also stand out, shaping the park’s natural skyline.

Whether for a peaceful break in the greenery, a bike ride, a spot of reading, or an outing with young children, Parco Il Tasso offers a welcoming environment where nature, culture, and social life meet.
