Il Gelso Park
An inclusive green space featuring barrier-free play equipment.
Il Gelso Park is a fully equipped green space surrounding the Casino dell’Orologio complex, a key community hub for the neighbourhood housing the Teatro dell’Orologio, a children’s play centre (Ludoteca), a senior citizens’ club (Circolo Anziani), and various local community groups and social initiatives.
Il Gelso was one of the municipal council’s first parks to be equipped with dedicated public amenities and facilities. Today, it offers numerous recreational opportunities, with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusion.
A spacious, barrier-free play area
One of the park’s standout features is its barrier-free playground, specifically designed to welcome children with disabilities.
At the heart of the play area stands the “Ritrovo sull’Albero” multi-play unit, a structure designed to encourage physical activity, climbing, exploration, and social interaction through diverse play features.
Reflecting a commitment to environmental sustainability, the equipment was built using 78% recycled materials.
The playground is fitted with modern wet-pour rubber safety surfacing to protect against falls.
Amenities include a basket swing for younger children and a playful ice-cream van structure designed to encourage imaginative role-play.
An adjacent area features a pentagonal swing set - ideal for group play - and a embankment slide set into a small mound, adding extra opportunities for movement and fun.
Parco Il Gelso brings together nature, art, play, and inclusion, offering children and families a welcoming, accessible environment to enjoy together.
