Robert Baden Powell Park
A neighbourhood park in the Rosta Nuova district dedicated to the founder of Scouting.
Established in the early 1980s under the name Le Querce Park, Baden Powell Park is an urban green space woven into the fabric of Reggio Emilia, encircled by the city’s road network.
The park houses the local headquarters of the CNGEI (Corpo Nazionale Giovani Esploratori ed Esploratrici Italiani - National Corps of Italian Boy Scouts and Girl Guides) and was dedicated in May 2007 to Lord Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the Scouting movement and British Army officer.
A grand oak at the heart of the park
The park's principal natural feature is a majestic pedunculate oak (Quercus robur), recognised for its exceptional landscape and ecological value.
With a trunk diameter of approximately 105 centimetres and a height of around 18 metres, this impressive specimen stands out within the urban landscape as one of the park’s most significant trees.
The green space is bounded in parts by a continuous field maple hedge, forming a natural buffer against the surrounding city.
Scattered across the grounds are also standalone specimens of black and white poplars, limes, and Atlas cedars.
