Araba Fenice

The Phoenix, created in 2005 by artist Luciano Fabro, is a monumental sculpture that captivates through its elegance, symbolism, and deep relationship with the space that hosts it.
Standing about seven meters tall, the column rises gracefully, slightly tapering toward the top, like a silent sign of transformation and rebirth.
The work is made of Iranian golden travertine marble, a precious material with warm, shifting tones that harmoniously interact with the natural light of its surroundings.
The column is composed of three stacked sections, carved with a refined balance between rule and spontaneity.
Where the marble is uniform, the fluting follows the Vitruvian tradition; where the natural veining becomes more pronounced, the carving adapts to the movement of the material itself.
As it rises, the surface seems to transform: from mineral to vegetal, and finally into an almost organic, animal-like form reminiscent of cartilage.
A symbolic journey that brings together different stages of nature within a single figure.
A key element in the perception of The Phoenix is natural light, which slides across the marble surface, enhancing its orange and violet hues crossed by green onyx veins.
The result is a continuous vibration, a constant shifting of the sculpture’s appearance throughout the day.

Not a column that supports, but a column that exists as an image - an autonomous presence rich in meaning.
A work that invites contemplation and inner dialogue, described by Rudi Fuchs as “a construction rich in spiritual content, an elegant enigma.”
