In Reggio Emilia, art becomes a tool for reflection and social participation with the widespread project Parole, parole, parole by the Reggio Emilia-born artist Elena Mazzi (1984).
The installation was created to counter male violence against women and transforms dense, meaningful words into a pattern that becomes a visual texture, appearing in symbolic places across the city and in local schools.
The project, developed on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2021, is part of the “Three Hundred Sixty-Five Days for Women” program, promoted by the Municipality of Reggio Emilia together with local associations.
Through workshops focused on listening and the collective construction of language, participating women transformed their experiences into a shared vocabulary, giving shape and material form to the thoughts and words that emerged from their journeys.
The installation unfolds on two levels of interpretation: from a distance, it appears as a colorful, vibrant wall with playful, pop-inspired forms; up close, visitors discover the real, powerful, and intense words that tell stories of courage, resilience, and hope.

The project continues

Parole, parole, parole continues to spread throughout the area: it is possible to purchase art objects inspired by the work, such as wallpaper or a limited-edition fine art print (50 × 70 cm).
The proceeds are donated to the association Nondasola, supporting projects dedicated to the women they assist - many of whom directly contributed to the creation of the artwork.

Fine art print (50 × 70 cm), with donations starting from € 120.00
Wallpaper (3 × 1 m strips or custom sizes), with donations starting from € 50.00/m²
