Fontana di Piazza Martiri del 7 luglio

In the heart of Reggio Emilia, in front of the Teatro Valli, stands the Fountain in Piazza Martiri del 7 Luglio, a structure 46 meters long and 12 meters wide, with a depth of just 2 centimeters.
The fountain combines art, history, and functionality, becoming a meeting point and a site of performance in the city center.
It recalls the historic water spout that in 1885, during the inauguration of the municipal aqueduct donated by Ulderico Levi, emerged directly from the square’s pavement and was illuminated by beams of electric light, symbolizing the innovation of the time.
The modern structure is designed to be flexible: it can open with water jets and light effects, creating spectacular scenography, or close, transforming the square into a large pedestrian space for events, performances, and outdoor gatherings.

Thanks to computerized control of the jets, the fountain can be synchronized with concerts or celebratory moments, becoming a true beating heart of Reggio Emilia’s cultural and social life, inviting contemplation, relaxation, and the discovery of the city’s urban heritage.
