In Reggio Emilia, in the civic hall of La Polveriera, stands Epopteia!, an imposing wall drawing of over 60 square meters created freehand by the artist Emanuele Sferruzza Moszkowicz, known as Hu-Be.
The title of the work comes from Ancient Greek and means “to look above,” an invitation to observe beyond the visible, reconstruct the past, and rediscover identity.
Hu-Be transforms the personal stories of the residents of La Polveriera into living material, creating a path of metamorphosis in which narratives expand and interact with the space, acquiring a new temporal and environmental dimension.
The work is the result of an intense listening process carried out between November 2019 and January 2020, during which the artist collected dreams, fears, pain, and hopes from people facing vulnerability, transforming them into a shared artistic narrative.
The sixty-square-meter surface thus becomes an experience of awareness, listening, and sharing, where the unpredictability and vitality of the stories reveal the power of collective creativity.

Epopteia! represents the final stage of Scribblitti, Hu-Be’s series of performances based on listening to individual and community stories from across Europe.
The work was created as part of the project “B. Right to Beauty,” within the broader initiative “Culture Will Not Stay in Its Place,” which brings together art and social inclusion.
