“Materials speak
in a subtle voice;
you have to know how to listen to them”
Giorgia, aged 4
REMIDA is a unique place where sustainability, creativity and innovation come together. Founded in Reggio Emilia in 1996 as part of the educational philosophy of the Reggio Emilia Approach®, it is now an international centre of excellence for research into the creative reuse of materials.
Here, industrial waste is transformed into new opportunities for discovery, learning and imagination. Materials destined for disposal are given a new lease of life, becoming tools for educational, artistic and cultural projects, demonstrating how even what appears imperfect can hold value, beauty and potential.
Every year, REMIDA recovers around 15 tonnes of materials from over 100 local businesses, making them available to schools, associations and non-profit organisations. A virtuous model that combines the circular economy, environmental responsibility and educational innovation.
Visiting REMIDA means entering a surprising space, where colours, shapes and materials interact with one another and stimulate curiosity, creativity and new ideas. Nothing is arranged by chance: every element is designed to captivate, suggest possibilities and invite you to look at the world through different eyes.
More than just a creative recycling centre, REMIDA is a laboratory of thought that invites you to rediscover the value of resources, to seek beauty in the unexpected and to imagine new ways of living in the present and building the future.
