Loris Malaguzzi International Centre
The Loris Malaguzzi International Centre is a space open to encounter, dialogue and discovery, where people of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy an experience centred on education, creativity and innovation.
Inspired by the experience of Reggio Emilia’s municipal nurseries and pre-schools, the Centre promotes research, experimentation and discussion on educational processes, offering exhibitions, workshops, events and opportunities for in-depth exploration that attract visitors, academics and professionals from all over the world.
The exhibitions
Discover Reggio Children’s exhibitions and be inspired by a journey that celebrates the value of childhood, creativity and education.
Organised in collaboration with the Reggio Emilia Municipal Authority for Nurseries and Kindergartens and translated into numerous languages, they offer an engaging experience open to everyone, not just education professionals.
On permanent display at the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre or as travelling exhibitions around the world, the exhibitions guide visitors on a journey of discovery into the learning processes of children and teachers.
Each exhibition becomes a space for dialogue, discussion and participation, inviting visitors to reflect on the role of education in contemporary society.
Staged and in high demand in numerous countries, these exhibitions have helped to raise the international profile of the Reggio Emilia Approach®, transforming Reggio Emilia into a key destination for those wishing to discover one of the world’s most innovative and highly regarded educational models.
The ateliers
Stepping into an atelier means experiencing one of the most distinctive features of the Reggio Emilia Approach®.
Established in the late 1960s and found in all municipal nursery schools, the ateliers are spaces dedicated to research, creativity and experimentation, where art, materials and knowledge interact to give shape to children’s ‘hundred languages’.
At the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre, the Ateliers open their doors to schools, families, children and adults, offering engaging experiences that invite people to explore, create and learn through doing.
Alongside the permanent ateliers, the travelling ateliers accompany Reggio Children’s exhibitions in Italy and around the world, bringing with them the essence of the Reggio Emilia Approach® and the idea of ‘thinking with one’s hands’: a unique way of understanding, experiencing and interpreting reality through creativity.
