The Municipal Theatre, known by citizens as the Cinema Teatro Montanari, is one of the cultural symbols of Rio Saliceto.
Located in the heart of the city, it was built at the beginning of the 20th century as part of an ambitious urban plan by the engineer Pier Giacinto Terrachini, who transformed the town with new public and private buildings.

Historical Background

The first theatrical performance dates back to February 8, 1911, when the G. Zannini company staged the comedy Il Cardinale by G. Parker.
Over the years, the theatre experienced ups and downs until, after a long period of closure, it was completely renovated and reopened to the public on January 31, 1993.

Architecture and spaces

The theatre preserves the charm of the Italian theatrical tradition: the hall can accommodate 210 spectators and offers an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, ideal for theatrical performances, concerts, and cultural events.

The decoration of the loggia balustrades, created by the artist Luigi Pillitu, gives the interior an elegant and refined touch.
