Built in 1810 during the Napoleonic era, Cavriago's Napoleonic Cemetery remained in use until 1923, when the town's new cemetery was opened.
Located along Via Cavour, the cemetery - also known as the Old Cemetery - is one of Cavriago's most significant historic landmarks.
Although it was built during the height of the Neoclassical period, its architecture draws inspiration from the Late Renaissance, reflecting the area's local architectural traditions.
The cemetery is home to a remarkable collection of funerary art, featuring monuments and decorative elements crafted from marble, wrought iron and cast iron.
Together, they offer a fascinating insight into the artistic styles and craftsmanship of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
