Pier Vittorio Tondelli

Tondelli (Correggio, 1955 - 1991) was one of the most read writers of the latest generation. In his novels he always tried to use a language particularly suitable for young people.

Biographical notes

Born in Correggio in 1955, he graduated from high school at the Liceo Corso and in 1980 graduated from the DAMS of Bologna with a thesis on the eighteenth-century epistolary novel.
That same year his literary debut with the publication of his first novel "Altri libertini" that had an immediate success with the public and imposes him to the attention of the critics as one of the most interesting writers of the new generation.
Two years later (1982), the experience of military service inspired him the second novel "Pao Pao".
In 1985 he published Rimini, followed by Biglietti agli amici (1986), Camere separate (1989, in which he reached expressive maturity), Un weekend postmoderno. Cronache dagli anni Ottanta (1990, his last book that collects writings and short stories).
He died in Correggio on the evening of December 15, 1991.
Posthumously is published The abandonment. Stories from the eighties (1993).
In 1994 his theatrical work Dinner party was played for the first time, presented and awarded in 1995 in Riccione at the Ater Prize for the Theater.
Strongly involved in cultural promotion, he edited three volumes of anthologies of young new writers: Giovani Blues (Under 25) in 1986, Belli & Perversi (Under 25, II) in 1987 and Papergang (Under 25, III) in 1990.
In Correggio, his hometown, a Documentation Center has been set up that collects, in addition to all the works published by Tondelli, also in other languages, everything published about the writer. A thesis award was also set up for thesis about Pier Vittorio Tondelli.
