Ristorante Badessa
Address and contacts
Restaurant
The restaurant is located inside the old 19th century dairy belonging to the Spalletti Counts and is a wonderful example of agricultural architecture in the neo-Gothic style built by the famous architect Cesare Costa starting in 1856.
A few meters away are Villa Spalletti and the Court of Villa Spalletti which fit into the extraordinary setting of an architectural complex that hosted the King and Queen of Italy, surrounded by a historic park considered one of the most important in Emilia Romagna.
The interior of the restaurant has been completely restored and it is possible to admire the original characteristic elements of the structure (internal flue, 17-metre internal well and original maps).
All this setting is the backdrop to the slow-food model restaurant, with the recovery of ancient Emilian recipes and culinary research around PDO excellence. such as Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia and Parmigiano Reggiano.
We speak English, Spanish, Italian and Emilian dialect.
The Badessa Restaurant has been designated by the Enoteca Regionale dell'Emilia-Romagna "Ambassador of Emilia-Romagna wine in the world" and in 2019 it received the award as "Best Young Osteria in Italy" from the Slow Food publisher.
The restaurant has 4 rooms with independent entrances.
Central hall: it is the largest hall and has the hexagonal plan typical of ancient dairies. In the center is the column with the flue inside.
Red Room and White Room: originally intended for salting and maturing, they have a lower seating capacity than the central room.
Balsamic niche: it is a small inlet next to the visible underground well 17 meters deep. Accommodates 3 small tables for 2 people.
