I Teatri - Ballet Season 2023-2024

There is the best contemporary dance from all over the world in the Ballet Season 2023-2024, which ideally continues the suggestions of the Aperto Festival and, until May, brings seven international shows onto the stages of the Municipale Valli and Ariosto town theatres, including two Italian premières and one absolute première.

Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker / Rosas returns with Exit above - after the tempest, in which walking as a primordial movement and the blues as a musical source meet in a show that is an unprecedented confrontation with the roots of Western pop music. The visionary Peeping Tom Company comes back to Reggio Emilia to present the new production that pushes the audience into a manipulative journey of apocalyptic proportions: a new cinematic performance of great visual impact, which explores human relationships, daily manipulations and intergenerational ghosts, but also mastery, what it means to give yourself to the stage as a performer and the falsity of what is presented as real.

The extraordinary dancers of the Wayne McGregor Company with UniVerse: A Dark Crystal Odyssey, propose a conscious meditation on the climate crisis, which focuses on themes such as exploitation, destruction, apathy and, finally, hope.

The complexity of England in all its facets is at the heart of Hofesh Shechter's compelling new work for the very young of Shechter II. Utopia is the result of the collaboration between Emanuel Gat and the dancers of the ŻfinMalta company, a celebration of their uniqueness, their virtuosity, involvement, courage, sense of responsibility and humanity.

For the first time, the BC Ballet arrives at the Teatro Municipale Valli in its Italian première with an evening of three choreographies: Silent Tides by Medhi Walerski; Heart Drive by Marne & Imre van Opstal and Passing by Johan Inger. Founded in 1986, BC Ballet, currently directed by Medhi Walerski, is a benchmark in the creation, production and education of contemporary dance in Canada.
