The station is located about 4 km north of the town centre, in Via Città del Tricolore at Mancasale, district of Reggio Emilia, less than 1 km from Reggio Emilia motorway exit: it is easy to reach it from Autostrada del Sole, Autobrennero and from Reggio Emilia bypass.
Reggio Emilia has hosted, since June 2013, the new AV Mediopadana Railway Station, the only stop between Milan and Bologna on the High Speed line of the railway network.
It is a roof structure, entirely made of white-painted steel and glass, with a total length of 483 metres.
The width of the structure is variable, up to a maximum of about 50 metres, its height is also variable and reaches an average of 20 metres.
It is a covering made up of a repeated succession of 13 closed-section portals, geometrically different, for a total of 457 portals, so as to outline the sinusoidal trend that characterizes the infrastructure.
The station is spread over two levels: in the lower one, accessible from the outside, are the station's own services, and in the upper one are the platforms.
The two levels are connected each other through four escalators on each side and two panoramic lifts.
The project is as signature of three bridges built in 2007 as part of the urban redevelopment of the northern area of the town.

Starting from Reggio Emilia, past about 2 km is the Lombroso Pavilion on the left, now Psychiatry History Museum. The whole complex looks like a large park, inside which buildings of various types and periods are located.
On the opposite side, continuing for another 2 km, you will find the "Mauriziano" or "Casino dell’Ariosto", the summer home of the poet Ludovico Ariosto who resided here, as guest of the cousins Malaguzzi Valeri. It is a building of the typical XV-century Emilian architecture, which houses magnificent Ariostesque rooms (called dressing rooms) on the first floor. The access avenue from via Emilia consists of a double row of ancient poplars and the unmistakable terracotta arch.
Walking along the entrance avenue, is the Rodano River Park, divided into two sections, inspired by two principles: classic near the Mauriziano, with plants that respect the criteria of the ancient parks, while between the Rodano river and the Ariolo river extends an agricultural area where is also spontaneous vegetation. Following the signs and pedaling in peace through fascinating natural and agricultural landscapes, the path crosses underpasses and walkways and reaches the Acque Chiare (Clear Waters): from there the connection to the Crostolo River path leading to the Rivalta Palace is close.

Historical evidence shows that already in 1200-1300, the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese had reached its perfect typicality that has remained unchanged until the present day. Today like in the past, cheese masters continue in their effort and in their risk by sincerely and proudly persisting in making their cheese with solely milk, rennet, fire and art, and in abiding by the rigorous centuries-old methods and application of the technique that is the result of special vocations and matured experiences. The recent history of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese is essentially the history of how the approximately 350 small artisan dairies of the typical area (that encompasses about nine thousand milk producers) has obtained, by way of Law, the recognition of their determination in preserving the processing method and the very high qualitative level of the product.
If you are fond of Italian food, you cannot miss the chance of seeing the traditional processing techniques with your own eyes at the Parmigiano-Reggiano dairies! The guided tours can be scheduled all the year, except holidays. It's necessary a reservation. It's possible to get in touch with the Consortium more or less 1 week before the visit or to directly contact the diaries (select the province and the desired day).
The process starts at 08:00 am and takes about 2 hours. During this time you will see all stages of the productive process. At the end of the visit, in dairies with shop, you can taste and buy the cheese.
Seeing the traditional processing techniques is an experience that fascinates adults and kids, for this reason it’s recommended to everyone. The guided tours are free of charge and can be in Italian or other languages, by agreement with the relevant section office.

The main characteristic of the Da Ligabue pastry shop has always been the daily production of pastries, cakes, mignons, biscuits of all types, sizes and tastes in order to satisfy the requests and whims of customers.
For some years it has also been offering gastronomic dishes with traditional, innovative and seasonal proposals, always with a "homemade" taste.

The story started way back in 1995 when the Correggio-based cooperative Andria (named after one of Italo Calvino’s invisible cities and with a long history of building human-friendly ‘dream’ neighbourhoods) decided to create a neighbourhood especially for children.
The history of Coriandoline
Children: an odd target for the construction of something as solid as houses. But in 1995 the architect who designed the project, Luciano Pantaleoni (previously the cooperative’s Director as well) together with pedagogy specialist Laura Malavasi, set the project in motion inviting 12 local schools to collaborate with them. Thus, 700 children helped by 50 teachers, 2 pedagogy specialists and a further 20 participants including architects and engineers, “pedarchitects and archigogists” (the term used by Luciano to describe his and Laura’s new role in this project) started putting down their initial ideas on paper and video.
In the neighbourhood, besides the see-through house with glass panels all around, there are also doorbells decorated with the names of the household members (all of them, including cats, and not just surnames), and in the tower houses, in addition to the lifts, there are also helter-skelter slides next to the stairs. Then there is the Coriandoli Workshop (coriandoli means confetti in Italian) which is used as a common room for meetings and gatherings and acts as a sort of documentation centre of the project. All the drawings made by the children and Luzzati, who worked with them, are assembled here alongside the plastic model and, hanging from – or rather nailed to – the walls, are some old manuals.
